Who We Are
Based near the shores of Lake Minnetonka, Julian Design is a full-service custom residential design studio serving discerning clients locally and throughout the US.
Drawing on our talents for making people feel at home, our interiors feel inevitable, deeply personal, quietly luxurious, and made to be valued for decades.
“When love and skill work together, expect a masterpiece.”
John Ruskin
Our Philosophy
The philosophy of shaping the art of living is deep in our souls and hearts. As love of family, friends and pets are central to our wellbeing, creativity and the joy of home are not only fun, but beautiful and essential in enriching our lives.
We design to a feeling. We don’t try to reinvent the past. Instead, we interpret style in a modern way. In five, ten or even fifteen years, we believe the home should look like it’s still belongs.
Our Story
Julie Ann entered the world of design with her first job selling furniture in her small, northern hometown of Roseau, MN nearly 5 decades ago. Julie Ann had found her passion in the world of interior design, and from the start had an instinctive and organic sense of style that she fed with her studies of history, art, and old world architecture. Her passion soon outgrew her hometown, and she moved to the Twin Cities, where she opened a large home center that has become nationally recognized as one of America’s major style setters.
Previously a Wayzata, MN Lake Street location housed in the showroom overlooking beautiful Lake Minnetonka. Today, we serve our clients from our nearby studio in Long Lake, MN.
Our Designers
Julie Ann Witt
Owner, Principle Designer
Julie Ann Witt has been a part of the design industry for 45+ years. Starting out in a small town just south of the Canadian border, Julie Ann has paved the way for many in the design industry as she forged her own path. When she left Northern Minnesota, she built a business that would be the model for the big box design and furnishings superstores that exist today.
After achieving success with that model, Julie Ann ventured again into something even more singular and unique. She has worked with architects, builders, artists, mentors, and even Buddhist monks to create the creed she works and lives by today, “Shaping the Art of Living.”
